The Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, on Monday morning, was rushed to a hospital after he complained of abdominal pain. The doctors operating on him later found that the pain was a result of an intestinal blockage. As per the reports, Bolsonaro was on his vacation at a beach in the southern state of Santa Catarina when he experienced the pain. Later, he was rushed to Sao Paulo’s Vila Nova Star hospital on the presidential plane. The news of Bolsonaro being admitted to the hospital was confirmed by himself. Taking it to twitter, the President posted a photo from his hospital bed and wrote “Doctors had inserted a nasogastric tube and were evaluating potential surgery.”

At present, the team of doctors who are operating on him said that his condition is stable. The statement by doctors said “The President was suffering from an “intestinal subocclusion,” a partial blockage of the intestinal tract. He is stable, undergoing treatment, and will be reevaluated throughout the morning. At the moment, there is no forecast for his release.” Dr. Antonio Luiz Macedo, the surgeon who has operated on Bolsonaro in the past has stated to the media that the President would need to undergo a plethora of tests. Luiz, who was himself on the vacation will be arriving at at 3:00 pm (1800 GMT) to take charge.

The President has been under immense criticism for his vacation that commenced on December 27 as the northeastern state of Bahia is flooded and the President ignored all calls to interrupt his holiday. Further, the anger among the people was triggered when Bolsonaro posted videos and pictures of himself soaking up in the sun and jet skiing on his social media handles.

Bolsonaro has been hospitalized on numerous occasions since he was stabbed during his Presidential campaign in 2018. In July 2021, he was taken to Vila Nova Star due to an intestinal blockage after suffering from chronic hiccups.
