The Government of Bhutan, on Friday, announced the decision to confer PM Modi with the country’s highest civilian award, Ngadag Pel gi Khorlo on the occasion of the country’s National Day. Taking it to Twitter, the Prime Minister of Bhutan Lotay Tshering announced the decision. The tweet readout “Overjoyed to hear His Majesty pronounce Your Excellency Modiji’s @narendramodi name for the highest civilian decoration, Order of the Druk Gyalpo.”

The head of the state of the country Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck also pronounced PM Narendra Modi’s name for the country’s highest civilian decoration and highlighted the unwavering friendship and all possible support that India, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, had extended to Bhutan over the years and specifically during the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is not the first time that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been conferred with such a prestigious award. Earlier, in 2016, he was awarded the highest honor of Saudi Arabia that is given to non-Muslim dignitaries, the Order of Abdulaziz Al Saud. Afghanistan, in the same year, also conferred Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the State Order of Ghazi Amir Amanullah Khan, the highest civilian honor of Afghanistan.
