Samajwadi Party’s chief Akhilesh Yadav stated that the electronic voting machines (EVM) in Varanasi were being transported without letting the local candidates know.

“EVM is being transported without being informed to candidates. We need to be alert if EVMs are being transported this way. This is theft. We need to save our votes,” says Akhilesh Yadav.

He further added that Samajwadi Party might take this matter to the court. He also asked citizens to be aware and keep an eye during the final counting in order to save democracy. Akhilesh Yadav asked candidates of the Samajwadi Party to stay ready with cameras as the reports of EVM being transported in Varanasi is a message for every other constituency.

Countering Akhilesh’s allegations, UP Law Minister Brajesh Pathak called out Samajwadi Party while addressing a press conference. He said that all the accusations are meaningless and that BJP will come in power in the full majority on March 10. He also said that the Samajwadi party may not accept Bhartiya Janata Patry’s win but the people of Uttar Pradesh have made their choices.

Brajesh Pathak said, “I don’t want to comment on Samajwadi Party, such a reaction comes from them often, it doesn’t matter. The BJP will come to power on March 10, crossing 300 seats.”

Former UP minister and now Samajwadi Party candidate Swami Prasad Maurya also shared a video on Twitter that allegedly showed EVMs being meddled with in the Shivpur constituency of Varanasi.

While addressing the press, Jayant Chaudhary the president of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) said that “There is a process for exit polls. No exit poll person was seen at the polling booths, I do not know from where they got the data.” He also added that until and unless EVMs are being opened, no one can know the results of the assembly polls.
