Biden agrees to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on condition of no Invasion

The development comes after the week of intense tension between Ukraine and Russia. As per the reports, Russia’s military has engulfed the Ukrainian borders.

US President Joe Biden has agreed to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on condition of no invasion over Ukraine. This development comes after French President Emmanuel Macron spoke to Biden on Sunday. The information has been stated by White House Secretary Jen Psaki and she told the media that “We are always ready for diplomacy. We are also ready to impose swift and severe consequences should Russia instead choose war. And currently, Russia appears to be continuing preparations for a full-scale assault on Ukraine very soon.”

Further, it is said that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov will meet on Thursday for a summit if Russia does not proceed with the Invasion of Ukraine. The announcement was first made by the office of French President Macron  as he has contributed in mediating between the two leaders on Sunday. The office of the French President released a statement and said that Macron had pitched both leaders on a summit over “security and strategic stability in Europe. Macron, on Sunday, had a separate telephonic conversation with Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden after which his office released a statement stating that both the leaders agreed ‘in principal’ to hold a summit if Russia does not invade Ukraine.

There has been a sharp rise in the tension in Eastern Ukraine as there has been reports of firing and heavy shellings in the region. Further, the Russian-backed separatists is also carrying out evacuation drive in the region. As of now, the Russian supporters in Eastern Ukraine’s Donbass region said that two civilians were killed in open firing on Monday by the Ukrainian troops. American officials have interpreted Putin’s intentions as difficult as he pushes the troops along the Russia- Ukraine border.
