Covid tally falls by 1 lakh while 93,876 new cases logged today
India’s daily Covid-19 cases ground below 1 lakh on Monday as the 3rd wave of the ailment fell back in the country. According to the Union ministry of health and family welfare, 83,876 cases were taped in the last 24 hours. The total cases now stand at 42,272,014.
With 895 related casualties, the death toll reached 502,874 related fatalities, the record further showed. The number of active cases dropped to 11,08,938, after depletion of 1,16,073 cases in a duration of 24 hours. The active cases comprise 2.62 percent of the total infections.
The positivity rate has dropped to 7.25 percent while the national Covid-19 retrieval rate improved to 96.19 percent, according to the ministry data. The weekly positivity rate was recorded at 9.18 percent.
People who have recovered from the disease rushed to 4,06,60,202, while the case mortality rate stands at 1.19 percent. The increasing doses regulated in the country so far lower than the nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive has overtaken 169.63 crores.
In the middle of the cases, many state governments have decided to reopen the schools and colleges from Monday.
For now, the central government called its workers at all levels to join office physically without any exemption. The Union ministry of personnel, public grievances & pensions said that Union minister Jitendra Singh held an analysis meeting on Sunday following which the decision to restart 100% presence for its employees was taken.
