Indian cricket team beats Sri Lankan cricket team by six wickets in the third and the final T20I match of the three-match series between Ind vs SL played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala. The final match was held on Saturday. The men in blue had already won the last two games marking an invincible lead in the series. However, a win in the third match has given the team 12 consecutive T20I victories, which makes India another country to have the most wins in this format. The other county to have these many victories in this format is Afghanistan.
Shreyas Iyer once again showcased his talent by hitting 73 runs from 45 balls. He was declared the ‘Man of the Match’. He was also given the ‘Player of the Match’ title after he scored 204 runs in the T20I matches against Sri Lanka. Ravindra Jadeja gave his full support to the team by remaining unbeaten on 22 runs in 15 balls. India had a target of 147 runs to chase. They aced it with six wickets in hand and 19 balls to spare.
“Firstly, I want to cherish this moment, I have achieved a really good total in this T20I series. I want to relax a bit, give myself time and not think too much beyond. I am just staying in the moment now. See if you are playing the T20I format, if you bat at the top 3, that is a place from where you can pace your innings really well. If you bat down the order, you cannot give yourself time and you have to go from ball one,” Iyer said during a virtual press conference.
“My mindset is to grab as many opportunities as I can and I maximize it. I am playing like I used to, there has been no special preparation. Every player has their own strength and weakness, my mindset is to focus on my strengths. I do not get bogged down if people think the short ball is my weakness.” he added
Dasun Shanaka’s innings of 74 runs in just 38 balls showcase his potential, passion, and the kind of talent he has. Sunil Gavaskar rightly said that Shanaka should have been picked up by any of the IPL team. Due to Shanaka’s good score, Sri Lanka managed to get 146/5 scores after struggling at 50/4 at the end of the 11th over. India had a target of 147 runs to chase. They aced it with six wickets in hand and 19 balls to spare in the third match of Ind Vs SL.
