India reports near 35k drop in Covid cases, with a positive rate of 15.88 percent
India Update on Covid-19: Six hundred and twenty-seven individuals died from the condition, while 3,47,443 were certified cured.
On Friday, India had a dramatic drop in the Covid-19 case count, with 2,51,209 new infections reported. This is a drop of about 35,000 instances from the previous day’s total of 2,86,384 cases. The current active caseload is 21,05,611, or 5.18 percent of all cases, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s revised bulletin. According to the government, more than 163.96 crores (1,63,96,46,725) vaccine doses have been distributed free of charge to states and union territories through the direct state procurement category.
It added that the states/UT authorities had another 13 crores (13,00,84,651) balance and unused medicines that have still to be administered. So far, 72.37 crore samples have been tested for the virus, according to the government. In the last 24 hours, 15,82,307 tests were performed. In the wake of the recent recurrence of cases caused by the fast-spreading Omicron variety, states have gradually begun reopening the economy and lifting restrictions imposed during the previous month. The federal government is also expected to assist states on how to reopen schools.
