Ukraine vs Russia: Indian Embassy issues advisory for citizens residing in Ukraine

After the Ukrainian government orders to shut down their airspace, Indian Embassy issued an advisory for it’s citizens who are residing in Ukraine.

A few days ago, Indian Embassy issued an advisory for Indian diplomats and Embassy officials to leave the capital city of Kyiv as soon as possible. As the conflict between Ukraine and Russia escalates, India has again asked its citizens stranded in Ukraine to reach out to the Embassy for an evacuation process. Additionally, Indian Embassy also issued helpline numbers. The announcement was made after Russian President Vladimir Putin, on Thursday morning, announced special military operations in Ukraine. 

The advisory issued by the Indian Embassy stated, “The present situation in Ukraine is highly uncertain. Please maintain calm and remain safe wherever you are, be it your homes, hostels, accommodation, or in transit. All those who are traveling to Kyiv, including those who are traveling from western parts of Kyiv,  are advised to return to their respective cities temporarily, especially towards safe places along with the western bordering countries.

The advisory further stated that information will be conveyed about the special arrangements as soon as they are finalized. Indian nationals can call the following helpline numbers for information:+38 0935046170, 0997300428, +38 0933980327, +38 0635917881 and+38 0997300483.

India had planned to evacuate citizens living in Ukraine when war-like situations emerged. A special Air India flight was landed in Delhi carrying 182 Indian citizens. However, today, an Air India flight scheduled to evacuate people were directed to return to Delhi after war-torn Ukraine closed its airspace.
