The Winter Session of Parliament will begin today, the government will introduce a bill to repeal the three farm laws on the first day. The opposition is likely to corner the government demanding a bill on Minimum Support Price (MSP). The session will see the introduction of 26 bills and the session will end on December 23. 

The Winter Session of the Parliament will commence today. The Modi-led government is likely to introduce about 26 bills in this month-long session. The government, today, will introduce a bill to repeal the three farm laws after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the decision in his address to the nation on the day of Guru Nanak Jayanti. Meanwhile, the opposition parties are in a mood to corner the government on various issues like inflation, Pegasus, fuel-price rise, and unemployment. The opposition is also likely to demand a bill on Minimum Support Price (MSP).

The government has urged all the opposition parties to raise all their concerns but to allow Parliament to function smoothly. On the very first day, the government is likely to take up a bill to repeal the center’s three farm laws that created a massive protest across North India. As per the top sources in the government,  the bill will be first tabled in the Lok Sabha and then on the same day will be tabled in the upper house. 

Apart from the bill to repeal three farm laws, other bills to be passed in the winter session includes the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, the Insolvency and Bankruptcy (Second Amendment) Bill, and the very important Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill. On the other hand, the opposition is likely to strongly target the government on the Pegasus row.

BJP, understanding the importance of the first day of the session, has issued a three-line whip to all its MPs (both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) to be present in the Parliament. On the other hand, Congress leader and Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi along with his party MPs will protest near the Gandhi statue at 10:30 am today over the issues of farm laws.
