‘Kashi Ayodhya Hamari Hai, Abh Mathura Ki Baari Hai’ UP Deputy CM sparks row

Mathura

Deputy CM of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya sparked a fresh row as he tweeted “A grand temple in Ayodhya and Kashi is under construction and the preparations are on for Mathura (referring to the Krishna temple in Mathura).”

The Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Keshav Prasad Maurya, Yesterday, tweeted a tweet hinting towards the preparation of a grand Krishna Temple in Mathura. The Tweet immediately became the talk of the town and sparked a fresh row before the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections. Maurya took to his Twitter and wrote “A grand temple in Ayodhya and Kashi is under construction and the preparations are on for Mathura.”

Opposition parties were quick to counter Maurya and the BJP. Reacting to Maurya’s tweet, Akhilesh Yadav, Samajwadi Party chief told news agency ANI, “ The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has an agenda of robbing the poor and filling the pockets of the rich and the millionaires and they have always worked to benefit the rich class. No rath yatra or new mantra is going to help BJP in the upcoming state elections.”

The case of the disputed site is ongoing in the court of the law but what is significant is that Deputy CM’s tweet comes days after Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha announced that it would install an idol of Lord Krishna at a site within the Shahi Eidgah on December 6. The significance of ‘December 6’ is that on this day, in 1992, the Babri Masjid was demolished. Keshav Prasad Maurya’s tweet also became the talk of the town because the UP elections are approaching and the BJP is trying to consolidate its Hindu vote bank as alleged by the Opposition Parties.

The holy city of Mathura is said to be the birthplace of Hindu God Krishna and a mosque- ‘Shahi Idgah’ stands next to the Krishna Janmabhoomi. The long legal battle regarding the disputed site is ongoing in the court of the law as the Hindus believe Krishna was born there and that they are the rightful owner of the land.
