Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra was seen hurling abuses at journalists when asked about his son Ashish Mishra who is the prime accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. Video of MoS abusing media persons has gone viral.

Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Ajay Kumar Mishra Teni, on Wednesday, lost his temper and hurled abuses at journalists when he was asked about his son Ashish Mishra who is the key accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri Violence. The violence claimed the lives of 8 people in total with four farmers and a journalist losing their lives. Mishra was in Oel town in Lakhimpur Kheri to inaugurate a oxygen plant when the alleged scuffle with a journalist took place. The junior Minister allegedly called Journalists present at the spot as ‘thieves’ and even pushed one of them when they asked Mishra to comment on SIT report charging his jailed son with additional IPC sections in Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

In one of the few videos that have gone viral, Ajay Mishra was seen getting irked when asked to comment on the latest SIT report. Mishra said “There is no shame. Media people are thieves who have put an accused person in jail. Switch your phone off. What do you want to know?” He was also seen attempting to hit the journalist around him, however, Mishra was prevented from doing so by the people present there at the spot.

This move by the BJP MP and MoS Home has given fresh ammunition to the opposition parties who were already demanding his resignation from the post of Minister of State for Home Affairs. Several Opposition parties have criticized the minister’s unruly behavior and have condemned the use of such foul language and demanded his immediate removal, stating that such behavior will not be tolerated. All India Congress Committee General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi also tweeted a video of the incident and tagged PM Modi and CM Yogi and demanded Mishra to be sacked.

Uttar Pradesh Congress also announced that they will hold a state-wide protest demanding the Minister to be sacked from his post. The Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi Party (SP) also asked for Mishra’s resignation. As per a few media reports, Ajay Kumar Mishra Teni has been called to New Delhi by the top brass of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and in all possibilities, he could be asked to step down from his ministerial post in a few days.
