Prashant Kishor follows footsteps of Didi; attacks Rahul Gandhi over ‘Divine Right of Leadership’

After Didi, Political Strategist Prashant Kishor, on Thursday, attacked the Congress leadership. Kishor tweeted ‘Congress leadership is not the Divine Right of an individual.’

The well-known election strategist Prashant Kishor, who is credited to make big regional leaders win elections, on Thursday, attacked the grand old Congress party, and particularly Rahul Gandhi. Taking it to Twitter, Kishor tweeted “The IDEA and SPACE that #Congress represents is vital for a strong opposition. But Congress’ leadership is not the DIVINE RIGHT of an individual especially when the party has lost more than 90% of elections in the last 10 years. Let opposition leadership be decided Democratically.”

Kishor is believed to be the brain behind the Trinamool Congress Nationwide Outreach Programme. He is believed to have made several Congress leaders defect into the Trinamool Congress in the recent few months. Sushmita Dev, Mukul Sangma along with 11 MLAs, Kirti Azad, Pavan Varma, and former Goa Chief Minister Luizinho Faleiro are a few names who switched to the Trinamool Congress and Kishor is said to have played an important role in the defection.

The criticism of the Congress and Rahul Gandhi by Prashant Kishor comes a day after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee questioned the existence of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA). During an address to Press in Mumbai, Banerjee said “Where’s UPA? There’s No UPA!” Bengal Chief Minister, without naming Rahul Gandhi, took a jibe at him by saying that “One cannot be abroad half of the time.” Mamata further added “If one does not do anything and is abroad most of the time, then how will one do politics. There should be a continuous approach to politics.”

As per several political pundits, this is a major jolt to the opposition unity and Trinamool Congress is trying hard to project itself as the major principal opposition to the NDA (National Democratic Alliance) on a national level. Kishor, who is also the strategist that made AITC (All India Trinamool Congress) win the recently concluded Bengal Elections was speculated to join the Congress party a few weeks ago but then there was no truth to that rumor. Now both Prashant Kishor and Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress is going all out against the Congress in every way possible be it on social media or be it poaching their leaders.
