Yogi orders probe into Ayodhya Lands Deal, Opposition demands Supreme Court probe

Ayodhya Land Scam

With opposition alleging loot in Ayodhya Lands Deal, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath orders a probe. A special Secretary from the Revenue Department will be visiting the town to inquire about the allegations.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, on Wednesday, ordered a probe into the alleged land transactions in Ayodhya. This move comes after a media report alleged that government officials and the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party and their relatives purchased the land in the town soon after the apex court pronounced the judgment in the favour of Ram Janmabhoomi.

Manoj Kumar Singh, the additional Secretary stated that he has nominated a special secretary to visit the temple town and the latter will be collecting all the necessary documents and eventually, the state revenue department will submit the findings in a report to Chief Minister Yogi Adityannath.

Lashing out at the CM Yogi, the General Secretary of the Congress party, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on Thursday, said that the probe into the land dealing in the temple town is inadequate and that the Supreme Court should probe the loot. Priyanka said “Uttar Pradesh said yesterday that they are ordering a probe. Who is conducting the probe? A district-level officer… Now you have the Mayor as a witness on a sale deed… Obviously, you are not expecting an inquiry to take place… A district-level officer cannot hold an inquiry against a mayor. The Ram Mandir Trust was set up on the basis of the orders of the Supreme Court. So, this investigation should be conducted through the Supreme Court.”

Joining the chorus was Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati who said that if there is any kind of fraud in the dealings of the land, it should be canceled. She further added that there should be a Supreme Court-monitored investigation. Sanjay Singh of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also demanded an apex court-monitored probe.
