India vs Sri Lanka: India wins 10th consecutive T20I after it defeated Sri Lanka by 62 runs

India vs Sri Lanka

India defeats Sri Lanka by 62 runs in T20I that was played in Lucknow and with this, the Indian team takes a 1-0 lead in the India vs Sri Lanka three-match series. This is also India’s longest winning streak, the number has now gone up to 10 matches. This makes the Indian team the second test-playing nation to record 10 consecutive wins in the format. The first one on the chart is Afghanistan.

Sri Lanka’s skipper Dasun Shanaka opted to field Sri Lanka had they got a target of 199/2. However, Sri Lanka got off to an awful start when India’s pacer Bhuvenshwar struck both the openers- Pathum Nissanka and Kamil Mishara in the first two overs. In no time 4 Sri Lankan players were out on just 57 runs. Charith Asalanka gave a ray of hope to his team by making 47-ball 53 but his other teammates couldn’t give him much support. Their final score was 137/6.

Opening for the Indian side, skipper Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan together scored a massive total of 111 runs. Kishan was seen back with his usual free-flowing batting style as he scored a half-century in just 30 balls. His final score was 89 runs in 56 balls, he also made 10 fours and 3 sixes. Kishan won the ‘Player of the Match’ title.

“I got to learn a lot from the last few matches. My intent wasn’t great but here I tried to keep it simple. I think pull is my favorite shot and I was actually waiting for the ball to play that shot. Bigger boundaries is a good thing as we get lots of gaps. My plan was to middle the ball towards midwicket and it went my way”, Ishan Kishan exclaimed after winning the award for Player of the Match. The next match in the India vs Sri Lanka series will be played on February 26 at Dharamshala.
