162-bed hostel facility inaugurated at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range
Recently, a 162-bed hostel facility was inaugurated at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, Tughlakabad, by the Union Sports Minister, Kiren Rijiju. Each room is provided with toilets and other facilities for two persons as per international standards in view of the Global shooting competitions. The air-conditioned hostel was readied at a cost of Rs.12.26 crore by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). Today KSSR has turned into a world class venue for shooting events with added facilities . Dr Karni Singh Shooting Ranges complex was built for 9th Asian Games and was named in the honour of Maharaja Dr. Karni Singh Ji of Bikaner who was first Arjuna awardee in Shooting (1961). Ever since, shooting become a favorite game for Indians have really excelled so well over the year clinching gold silver and bronze in Olympics Asian and commonwealth games with other international events. At Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Abhinav Bindra became the first Indian individual Olympic gold medal.
