5 all-time underrated movies of Bollywood

The continuous circle of  competition between movies leaves some films at the edge of ignorance. There are some movies which are not able to perform because of their commercial inactivity at the same time critics and movie reviewers also play an important role to leave the movie at disposal. There are many such Bollywood movies which are underrated besides good storyline and ideas. Here is a list of movies which a movie buff should watch and appreciate.

  1. Tashkent Files

It is a 2019 hindi language thriller movie which is written and directed by none other than Vivek Agnihotri. The movie is based on a serious and sensitive matter of who assassinated  former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. In the film, one can see National Film Award winner for child artist Shweta Basu Prasad, winners of many awards Naseeruddin Shah and Mithun Chakraborty in the leading roles. 

The movie is investigative in nature and a person who enjoys reading Sherlock Holmes books might find it interesting and full of suspense. This is like an ancient stone pressed down in the soil that this movie received National Awards as well.  

The story revolves around a young fearless journalist who, because of her report in the newspaper about Shastri, gets the swing and then starts her tough journey of investigating the reality. 

2   Massan

It is a 2015 Hindi language drama film. The movie is directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and is the debut film of Vicky Kaushal. In the lead role ,one can find Vicky Kaushal  and Richa Chadha. The movie paints a love story around one village of Varanasi. The film shows the contrast between the two lives, one of an upper caste girl and another of a lower caste boy. The film gets the direction of a tragic love story because of the casiest society .

The movie at the same time finger at the corrupt practices of the person who is in administration. Vicky Kaushal’s role portrays the stigma of occupational hierarchy.  Acting of the artists  in the movie can be appreciated. It can be one of the best movies for the fans of Vicky Kaushal .

3   Aankhon Dekhi

It is a 2014 Hindi language drama film directed by Rajat Kapoor. The feather of this movie is that it was shown in the opening of the 8th annual Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival in Toronto. Despite this fact, it is underrated. The movie is satirical , emotional and praise worthy. The movie starred various actors such as Seema Pahwa, Sanjay Mishra, Rajat Kapoor and Bijendra Kala . The film revolves around a lower middle family and those scenes can be related and humorous as well. The film is a gem because of its think,laugh and repeat approach. A secret lesson is hidden in the movie as well . This might interest you but you will realise its success after watching it Aankhon Dekhi.

4   Parched

It is a 2015 drama film written by Leena Yadav. The movie premiered in the Toronto International Film Festival as a special presentation .Film can fascinate those who are interested in knowing about a village story , especially the one which is plagued by social evils, orthodox and oppressive traditions. The movie is about four women in a village who try to live a free life but because of patriarchy ,oppression and domination, they find it hard to flick. 

The movie portrays the struggles and determination. Despite being underrated, Leena Yadav won the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne for best director .

5  Aligarh

It is a 2015 biographical drama film worked by  Hansal Mehta and Apurva Asrani. The cast includes Manoj Bajpayee , Rajkumar Rao,Sukhesh Arora among others. The movie revolves around a contemporary idea of lgbtq and the relations  they develop. Having a contemporary storyline which relates to youth and still not getting desired roles is like an oxymoron. The movie try to show the plight of homosexual in age old society. 

The film  revolves around when a simple professor is blackmailed because of  his sexual orientation. The struggle of the professor is the real climax and then how he solves all the chaos.  The acting performed by the talents is natural without over dramatisation. 

These are the movies with an excellent story idea but failed to perform well. If you are a true movie buff, switch to this movie and comment your views.
