MS Dhoni steps down as the skipper of CSK, hands over captainship to Jadeja
After a long and successful tenure as the captain of IPL team Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mahendra Singh Dhoni steps down, handing over the captainship to Ravindra Jadeja.
On Thursday, in a surprising move, MS Dhoni stepped down as the skipper of one of the most successful IPL franchise- Chennai Suoer Kings (CSK). MS, who has been leading the side since 2008, handed over the captainship to his teammate and good friend Ravindra Jadeja. The move only did not come as a surprise to his fans across the globe but was also a shocking announcement for players who have played along with their dear ‘Mahi Bhai’. Taking it to Twitter, Virat Kohli expressed his tribute to his teammate and posted a picture of himself with Dhoni with a caption, “Legendary captaincy tenure in yellow skip. A chapter fans will never forget. Respect always. @msdhoni.”
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been one of the most celebrated and successful skipper in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and he has led the Chennai Super Kings to four titles (2011, 2012, 2018, 2021). Dhoni has led the side in 204 matches in which the side managed to win 121 matches. Apart from CSK, the wicketkeeper also had the privilege to represent Rising Pune Supergiant for two years, during the time CSK was suspended for two years due to the spot-fixing scandal.

The official press release by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) states that “MS Dhoni has decided to hand over the leadership of Chennai Super Kings and picked Ravindra Jadeja to lead the team. Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond.”
