Noida Metro Expansion: 11 New Stations across Aqua Line

The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) will extend the Metro to Greater Noida West. The Aqua Line corridor extension has been approved by NMRC, along with a revised Detailed Project Report (DPR).

There will be eleven stations along the Aqua Line corridor extension. This extension will terminate at Knowledge Park V in Greater Noida and begin at the Sector 51 station in Noida. With its consent, the DPR made a few minor alignment adjustments.

Information regarding the Aqua Line project

“The proposed interconnectivity of the existing operational Aqua Line to the DMRC’s Blue line at Sector-61 station and benefiting the commuters of Noida, Greater Noida West area, and Greater Noida area with faster and direct connectivity towards Noida and Delhi and vice versa” is why the project is essential, according to NMRC Managing Director Lokesh M. At a cost of ₹2991.60 crore, the plan called for 11 stations along a 17.43-kilometre route, according to MSN News.

Currently, the Aqua Line connects Sector 51 in Noida to the Depot station in Greater Noida. The average daily ridership has increased significantly since 2019, doubling from 18,000 to 45,000 in 2023.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s Blue Line and the NMRC’s Aqua Line will interchange at the Noida Sector-61 station, the NMRC official continued. The NMRC official added that stations along the proposed corridor would be located at Noida Sector-61, Sector-70, Sector-122, Sector-123, Greater Noida Sector-4, Ecotech 4, Greater Noida Sector 2, 3, 10, 12, and Greater Noida Knowledge Park-V.

Noida Metro: The Aqua Line Project’s advantages

Vikas Marg and the Noida-Greater Noida Link Road will allow commuters from Noida, Greater Noida West, and Greater Noida to benefit from the project. In addition to cutting down on travel time, the Aqua Line corridor extension will aid in clearing the congestion on these roads.

Additional initiatives

Additionally, plans are underway to add two more corridors to the Noida Metro network. Officials claim that one is a corridor connecting the Botanical Garden Metro Station and the Noida Sector-142 station, and the other is an extension from the NMCR Depot Station to Bodaki in Greater Noida.

The Botanical Garden-Sector 142 corridor’s DPR requires approval before it can be implemented, according to NMRC officials. The NMRC filed the DPR to the Uttar Pradesh government, and the Center will need to approve it after it is granted.
