Donald Trump faces criminal charges for alleged role in hush money payment

On April 4th, 2023, Tuesday, former US President Donald Trump made a momentous court appearance to the New York court for the hearing amid the global media and tight security, as the Republic billionaire, Trump became the first American President to face any kind of criminal charges in the history till now. According to the Washington Post, Trump surrendered himself to the authorities at the court in Lower Manhattan ahead of his arraignment. 

 

Donald Trump faces criminal charges and the investigation against him started for his alleged role in the hush money payment made to an adult film star Stormy Daniels during his 2016 campaign to hide an alleged affair that he never accepted and constantly denied. During the tycoon’s 2016 election campaign, which reportedly included the conspiracy and stem for the hush money paid to a former porn star to keep quiet over an alleged affair and the former US President pleaded not guilty to all the charges in this matter. Trump has said he is innocent and is due to plead not guilty to 34 criminal charges against him. 

 

Donald Trump posted a cryptic post mentioning that the experience is “SURREAL,” adding, “WOW, they are going to ARREST ME. Can’t believe this is happening in America.” According to a report by CNN, Susan Nechles and Joe Tacopina met the former president of the US at the Trump Tower when Trump arrived in New York. The plan to close key streets in lower Manhattan as a security measure by the officials of New York City. The state police agencies and local people around the city were warned by the FBI regarding the concerns related to possible accusation of Trump. 

 

The police lined the streets while helicopters were droned in the skies as Trump’s motorcade made the short drive to court, carried live on US networks despite the fact that no allowance for cameras was granted in the hearing. Donald Trump waved at his supporters before walking into the complex under the US Secret Service protection. Trump also claims that he is the victim of “political persecution” but is also using the court case to energize his support base and raise millions of dollars for his bid to reclaim the White House in the year 2024.
