EAM Dr. S Jaishankar embarks his four-nation visit to Central and Latin America

On April 21st, 2023, Friday, S Jaishankar the External Minister of India (EAM) began a four-nation tour of Central and Latin America. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, The External Affair Minister will make an official visit to Panama from April 24th to 25th, Columbia from April 25th to 27th, and Dominican Republic from April 27th to 29th, where he will be interacting with various Ministers and meeting the leaders.

 

The Joint Commission Meeting will be co-chaired by the EAM Jaishankar including Hugh Hilton Todd, which will entail the conversations based on the both countries bilateral issues and to find a way to sort them out. The discussion will include a group of 15 members in the Caribbean Community, the Foreign Ministers in India-COFCOR (Council on Foreign and Community Relations) as well as the bilateral talk sessions in his visit to Guyana, according to the MEA press release. 

 

 The External Affairs Minister’s visit to Panama from April 24th to 25th will include a discussion with the top leaders as well as ‘Janaina Tewancy Mencom’ will be hosted by the Foreign Ministers. During the visit, he will also be meeting the representative leaders of the eight-country Central American Integration System in the India-SICA Meeting of Foreign Ministers. Top representatives of the government, civil society, and business would be addressed by the EAM S Jaishankar during his visit to Columbia. 

 

According to a release by the Ministry of External Affair, the visit to Columbia will be S Jiashankar’s first Foreign Ministerial level visit to the country. After the establishment of the resident Embassy in Santo Domingo in 2022 which results in the visit of EAM Jaishankar. Roberto Alvarez, Foreign Minister will be holding conversations with the External Affair Minister. S Jaishankar is also expected to hold a talk at the Dominican Republic Foreign Ministry on the occasion of the Indian Resident Mission. The visit will include bilateral engagement as well as interactions with the counterparts of the regional groups.
