With the number of Covid-19 cases in Gautam Buddh Nagar dropping, the district government stated on Friday that several restrictions will be relaxed, including the reopening of eateries and malls and the reduction of night curfew hours.
“As the number of active Covid cases have become less than 1,000 in Gautam Budh Nagar, previously applicable restrictions shall be lifted from February 12,” District Magistrate Suhas L Yathiraj said.
The night curfew will now begin at 11 p.m. and extend until 5 a.m., rather than the 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. period that was enforced last month when the number of active cases surpassed 1,000.

Gyms and swimming pools that had been closed due to state government regulations for districts with more than 1,000 active cases can now reopen.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Gautam Buddh Nagar reported 57 new coronavirus cases and 223 recoveries, bringing the total number of active coronavirus cases to 844.

For the first time since January 5, the number of active cases in the district fell below 1,000. So far, a total of 488 deaths have been connected to Covid-19 in the district.
