MD of Patanjali Acharya Balkrishna submits apology to SC for false Advt

In an assertion, Patanjali Managing Director Acharya Balkrishna submitted an inadequate apology to the Supreme Court of India for misleading advertisements. He assured the Court that such things would not happen in future.  He stated that Patanjali aimed to bring down the load on the country’s healthcare infrastructure by providing solutions for lifestyle-related medical solutions. Patanjali also tendered an “unconditional apology” to the Supreme Court in response to a notice asking it to show cause why contempt proceedings should not be initiated for allegedly flouting an undertaking given to the court. On February 27, the Supreme Court restrained Patanjali Ayurved from publishing advertisements for medicines produced by it for ailments like blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, asthma and obesity, amongst others. 

In November 2023, the Supreme Court warned Patanjali of heavy fines of up to Rs 1 crore for false claims in advertisements promoting products claiming to treat medical conditions such as diabetes, fever, and epilepsy.

The company would not make any statements about medical productivity or denounce the medical system. The company further mentioned that its motive is to make each and every citizen healthier in their own way and provide them with the best medical treatments.
