ICC announced the fixture for World Cup 2023 today. The Final will take place in Ahmedabad while the Semi-finals would be played in Kolkata & Mumbai.
The 50-over Men’s Cricket World Cup is all set to commence from October 5 and will conclude on November 19. India will be hosting the extravaganza and the final schedule of Dates and Venues was announced today. As per the announcement by ICC, a total of 10 venues has been finalised for the tournament (excluding 2 other venues for warm-up matches. Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamsala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata will be hosting the tournament while the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad will host the finals whereas Kolkata and Mumbai are all set to host the semis. Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram in addition to Hyderabad will host the warm-up matches from 29 September to 3 October.The complete schedule of ICC World Cup 2023 was announced today at 12 pm at St. Regis, Mumbai. The much-awaited clash between India and Pakistan will be held on October 15th at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. A total of 48 matches will be played among 10 teams in the World Cup 2023 and this will be after 12 long-years that India will be hosting the World Cup.
The much-anticipated World Cup which is mere 3 months away from commencement is making headlines each day for some news, announcement and a bit of controversy around it, mostly by Pakistan (regarding the venues). The World Cup 2023 Trophy will also be travelling to 18 countries over the next few months before returning to India for the tournament.
Pakistan, who have expressed their objection about playing India at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad, will play their other league games in Hyderabad (two), Bengaluru (Australia), Chennai (Afghanistan and South Africa), Kolkata (Bangladesh & England) and Bengaluru (New Zealand). If one breaks down Pakistan’s fixture, they are mostly playing their matches in South India and as per reports, it is because of the security reasons.
