- Post By The India Saga
Captain Amarinder Singh, Yesterday, officially announced decision to form his own political party. He also welcomed MHAs decision to increase the jurisdiction of BSF in Punjab and other bordering states. Sidhu hit out at Singh by calling him a loyal CM of BJP.
Former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Yesterday, while addressing a presser, announced his decision to form his own new political party. This comes after he fell out with High Command of the grand old Congress party. He was all praise for Centres decision to increase the Border Security Forces jurisdiction from 15 kms to 50 kms. He even said he is ready to have a seat sharing agreement with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) but said it's not a sort of alliance. However his harshest words were reserved for the Congress party of which he was a loyal soldier of a month ago.
Yes, I will be forming a new party. The name will be announced once the Election Commission clears it, along with the symbol. My lawyers are working on it," he said. On entering an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Amarinder said that he has not talked to the BJP or Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa's party Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) as yet but they would want to have a seat-sharing. "We have got many people with us, we will fight all 117 seats, we will have plenty of Congressmen coming in," he added. Let the EC decide. We have made a request for a symbol and the name. Will let you know when we get clearance, he further added.
Former Punjab CM will also meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi today to discuss possible solutions to the ongoing farmers stir against the Centres three farm laws. Singh on Wednesday said he will be meeting Shah along with some agricultural experts. Tomorrow we are taking some people with us, around 25-30 people. We will be meeting Amit Shah on the issues of the farmers. I cant say what will be the solution on the three farm laws, I have already given my views to him in the previous meetings with him, he further added.
Attacking his former party colleague- Navjot Singh Sidhu, he said, This man knows nothing. He just keeps shooting nonsense from his mouth. I'd been meeting all central ministers to discuss state issues. States can't function unless they work with the Centre. But I don't expect Sidhu to know anything about good governance.
Hitting back at Captain, Sidhu tweeted Captain sold the interests of Punjab to save his skin. He tweeted, We the 78 MLAs of Congress, could never imagine, what we received an arm-twisted, ED controlled BJP loyal Chief Minister of Punjab @capt_amarinder who sold the interests of Punjab to save his skin! You were the negative force stalling Justice & development of Punjab.
However, the Congress leader's gesture was welcomed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Party general secretary Tarun Chugh said the Centre has been always open to talks with farmers and has welcomed any intervention to resolve the deadlock.
