At midnight on August 8, when Indians were half asleep, the golden boy from India won the first silver medal for his nation in the Olympics 2024. To win the men’s javelin Olympic gold again in the finals of the Paris Olympics, Neeraj Chopra threw the second-best throw of his career (89.45 meters). However, it was insufficient to bring gold home gain. Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan won the gold on Thursday, August 8, setting a new Olympic record of 92.97 meters. This was Pakistan’s first track and field gold medal at the Olympic Games. 
 
Neeraj Chopra made only one legal throw out of six and added an Olympic silver to his impressive trophy chest. Even though it was not his greatest day in the tournament, he won India’s first-ever silver medal at the Olympics in Paris. The Olympic champion from Tokyo became just the fifth athlete from India to win multiple medals in the games. 
 
Anderson Peters of Grenada secured third place in the competition and won a bronze medal for his country. He is a former two-time world champion. Jakub Vadlejch, the champion of the Diamond trophy and winner of a bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympic Games, holds fourth place.

After the competition, Neeraj Said, “I was thinking about hitting the 90M mark, but it did not happen. My mind continuously told me this is the day, and you must do it. When Arshad Nadeem hit it (92.97M), my confidence pumped up, but it was not worth it. Let’s wait when I can hit the 90M mark.”  
 
In Olympic history, this is the first time India and Pakistan finished in the top two in a track and field event. Especially in an event dominated by Europeans. It was also the first time that an athlete from Europe did not win a medal in the men’s javelin event at the Olympic Games.
