Review of Swatantra Veer Savarkar: Although Randeep Hooda’s performance as the lead was visually stunning, his directing still needs more effort.

Plotline of the movie: The film Swatantra Veer Savarkar, directed by actor Randeep Hooda, is based on the life of freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, who, in contrast to Mahatma Gandhi, chooses the path of violence to achieve freedom and how his ideas end up posing a threat to British citizens.

Swatantrya Veer Savarkar Story & Review

The life of VD Savarkar is portrayed in Swatantra Veer Savarkar, which opens in theatres on March 22. In addition to playing Savarkar in the movie, Randeep Hooda also made his directorial debut. Nearly every facet of his life is depicted in the film. A young Savarkar and his family watch their father die at the beginning of the movie. He soon grows up and decides to fight for freedom and strengthen his case; he wants to visit London and learn about British law. He is admitted to Fergusson College in Pune, where he makes his first stop on the journey. He founded the Abhinav Bharat Society and started the independence movement before he even set foot on campus.

The movie emphasises the major events in Veer Savarkar’s life. These include his encounters with Gandhi, his abortive attempt to arrange an escape to seek safety in France, his life sentence in the Andaman Islands, also known as Kaala Paani, his conversion while incarcerated, his transfer from the Andaman jail to Ratnagiri jail, and his eventual release. The movie also provides insight into his life after his prison release and political career.

Censored, Then Silenced: Nayanthara Apologizes as ‘Annapoorni’ Gets Pulled

Swatantra Veer Savarkar has its highs and lows. Let’s start with its pinnacles. For the most part, the film was engaging to watch. Until and even after the Kaala Paani sentence, most of the movie remains faithful to his story. Randeep Hooda, however, exercises artistic license and presents sequences that may have yet to work out in real life when the political career bit begins to take shape. There is a scene in the movie where Bhagat Singh meets Savarkar, but no historical evidence supports this account. It also raises the possibility that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose asked Veer Savarkar for advice before making a significant political decision after being inspired by him. Furthermore, there is no proof of this, and to cap it all, Chandra Kumar Bose, Netaji’s grandnephew.

Performances of the stars

When it comes to performances, Randeep Hooda performed his life and gave Vinayak Damodar Savarkar his very best, presenting an overall stunning performance into the character’s life. Despite having a short time as Yamuna Bai, Ankita Lokhande Jain leaves a lasting impression with her strong presence. Among other cast members, Mark Bennington and Amit Sial have significant roles in the film.
