USA retaliates in Afghanistan by launching airstrikes, warns Americans to leave Kabul airport

The United States had launched a counterterrorism operation targeting the Islamic State affiliate. According to the statement given by the U.S military, they were successful in smashing their target as a heavily fortified CIA base in Kabul has been destroyed. This is the first vengeance strike in Kabul post the bombing of the airport which caused the death of nearly 85 militants including 13 U.S troops.

At the airport and in the streets, the U.S. military and the Taliban tried to establish whatever possible authority they could. Militants with Kalashnikov rifles kept crowds farther away from the airport’s entrance gates, guarding checkpoints with trucks and at least one Humvee parked in the roads. The American military resumed evacuation flights, and White House officials said early Friday that 12,500 people had been evacuated from Afghanistan in the previous 24 hours, despite the attacks.

Cap. Bill Urban who is the spokesperson for the U.S Central Command gave a statement, ”U.S. military forces conducted an over-the-horizon counterterrorism operation today against an ISIS-K planner. The unmanned airstrike occurred in the Nangarhar province of Afghanistan. Initial indications are that we killed the target. We know of no civilian casualties.”

The attack which was done on Kabul airport was one of the most noxious events in the last two decades since the U.S led its invasion of Afghanistan. The airstrike was carried away post the blistering attack made by US President Joe Biden in which he vowed to hunt down the terrorist behind the brutal act of bombing on Thursday. Biden very clearly stated, “To those who carried out this attack, as well as anyone who wishes America harm, know this: We will not forgive”.
