A screening will be hosted for the Oscar winners by Union Minister Anurag Thakur

Monday turned out to be a historic day for India, as it witnessed a wave of happiness and a pride after Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga’s Netflix documentary short ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ won the Oscar for the Best Documentary Short film category and the song ‘Nattu-Nattu’ from the film ‘RRR’ also won an Academy Award in the best original song category at the 95th Oscars on 13th March 2023, Monday. While congratulating both teams for their win, the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting expressed his joy and said he was thrilled by the win.

 

As a mark of celebration for winning two Oscar awards, Mr. Anurag Thakur will be holding a screening of both Oscar-winning films for the MP’s in Delhi next week. The screening of both films ‘RRR’ and ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ is likely to be held in Balayogi Auditorium in the Parliament. The song ‘Nattu-Nattu’ had also bagged awards on the global stage, before winning the Oscar. In fact, the writer of RRR and other blockbuster movies like ‘Bahubali’ Vijendra Prasda is also a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha. 

 

Anurag Thakur took to his Twitter handle and mentioned, “A heart touching story of love as well as co-existence in harmony with nature, a heartwarming story of Bomman, Belli, and baby elephant Raghu set in Tamil Nadu. I am thrilled that The Elephant Whisperers has bagged the Oscar in the Best Documentary Short Film at the 95th Academy Award! Congrats! and “Nattu-Nattu has won millions of hearts all around the world! The power of Indian content has captured the hearts of audiences globally, the team have mesmerised with their cinematic art and left everyone spellbound with their song!” 

 

Chief Ministers of several states and Political leaders from different parties including Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Basavaraj Bommai, Maharashtra Deputy CM Davendra Fadnavis, Congress General secretary KC Venugopal and others, hailed the teams of ‘RRR’ and ‘The Elephant Whisperers’.
