Covid-19 Updates : India Caseload drops to 1.4 Lakh per day, total deaths exceed 500,000
Cases of Covid-19 in India: The country had 172,433 new infections a day earlier, up 13% over the previous single-day increase. Meanwhile, total recoveries have surpassed 400,000.
According to data issued by the Union health ministry on Friday, India’s daily Covid-19 instances dropped significantly, with as many as 149,394 more persons testing positive for the viral infection. This is up 13% over the previous day’s tally of 172,433, which was recorded on Thursday. Meanwhile, the death toll from the incident increased to 1072 from 1008 the day before, according to the bulletin.
With this, the total number of infections has reached 41,952,712, with 500,055 deaths. After the United States (896,557) and Brazil (630,301), India is now the third country where more than 500,000 people have died as a result of the virus. A total of 40,017,088 recoveries are included in the overall caseload, with 246,674 patients recovering in the last 24 hours. The total number of active cases is now 1,435,569, a decrease of 98,352 infections.
Recoveries, active cases, and deaths account for 95.39 percent, 3.42 percent, and 1.19 percent, respectively, of the total. Since the countrywide immunization campaign began on January 16 of last year, almost 1.7 billion doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been delivered. According to the health ministry bulletin, 5,558,760 of these were given out in the last 24 hours.
