Enforcement Directorate to file charge sheet against Nawab Malik

The Enforcement Directorate will file a charge sheet against NCP leader Nawab Malik on money laundering charges. The agency arrested Malik on February 23 by the ED in connection with terror networks in the country led by fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim and his aides. The Enforcement Directorate found that a plot deal that had happened between NCP leader and Dawood Ibrahim’s sister Haseena Parekar and 1993 serial blasts accused Sardar Shahwali Khan in 2003 and 2005. It was also learnt that Ibrahim was active in the country to disrupt law and order situations in the country.

 It was also learnt by ED that the deal included a plot of 2.75 acre in Kurla also known as Goawala compound. The money paid by Malik was later used for terror funding. It was also said that Malik and his family earned money from the same property.  Apart from Goawala compound, three flats in Bandra and two flats in Kurla along with an agricultural land in Maharashtra’s Osmanabad area. 

On the basis of the complaint filed by NIA on February 3,2022 ED kicked off the investigation under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act ( UAPA) . The FIR was filed against Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar alias Dawood Bhai, Haji Anees alias Anees Ibrahim Shaikh, Shakeel Shaikh alias Chhota Shakeel, Javed Patel alias Javed Chikna, and Ibrahim Mushtaq Abdul Razzaq Memon alias Tiger Memon as accused. The FIR also stated that after leaving India, Dawood Ibrahim used to control his criminal activities through his close associates such as Haseena Parkar alias ‘Haseena aapa’ and others.

During the investigation, ED revealed a property of one Munira Plumber was taken and controlled by Malik through his company Solidus Investments Pvt Ltd. Investigation also revealed that several legal documents were sham. Earlier ED also attached few properties under Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002.

Special court has also extended  the judicial custody of Nawab Malik even though he complained of leg pain because of kidney related ailments. Malik also filed Habeas corpus pointing to illegalities undertaken by ED. Nawab Malik is currently heading the Ministry of Minority affairs.
