PM Modi flag offs India’s first Water Metro in Kochi, during his two-day visit to Kerala

On April 25th, 2023, Tuesday, PM Narendra Modi will dedicate to the nation India’s first Water Metro during his two-day visit to Kerala. The Prime Minister of India will flag off India’s first water metro that links 10 islands around Kochi through battery-oriented electric hybrid boats for seamless connectivity with the city. He will also lay the foundation stone of some projects and inaugurate numerous projects worth more than INR 3,200 crore. 

 

The Managing Director of Kochi Metro Rail Limited said ahead of PM Modi’s visit to Loknath Behra, “Kochi’s water metro project is a unique project which will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister. This is a game-changing transport system because Kochi is surrounded by numerous islands and out of them 10 islands are very important as well as thickly populated.” The first water metro can be turned out as a quirky urban mass transit system which provides the same experience as well as effortless travel connectivity to the public. It will turn out to be one of the most useful and successful projects.

 

Narendra Modi’s government has made a conscious choice in the way of providing basic framework, infrastructure as well as connectivity to the public. An example of this particular approach is shown in the increasing numbers of metro in the country, according to some officials. Narendra Modi will also inaugurate the rail electrification section of Dindigul-Palani-Palakkad. The water metro will cover 11 districts including, Kollam, Kottayam,  Palakkad, Ernakulam, Kannur, Kasargod, Malappuram, Pathanamthitta, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Kozhikode. 

 

The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation of several projects including the redevelopment of the Thiruvananthapuram, and Varkala Sivagiri railway stations and the comprehensive development of Thiruvananthapuram as well as increasing of sectional speed Thiruvananthapuram-Shoranur section. He will also be seen inaugurating the Digital Science Park in Thiruvananthapuram. A statement by the Prime Minister’s office that a third-generation science park will support the development of products in the sector of Industries 4.0 Technologies like cyber security, data analytics, AI, etc.
