IMD has issued a heatwave advisory for southern India, where scorching conditions are predicted for today

Heatwave alert in India: The India Meteorological Department has forecast heatwave conditions in southern India today. In addition, the weather agency has predicted mild to heavy rainfall and hail storms in East, Central, and Peninsular India until April 9.

IMD’s statement about heat waves

As per the weather department, heat wave conditions are likely to Isolated areas in the North Interior of Rayalaseema, Telangana and Karnataka today, April 8. On April 8th, Karnataka’s Belgaum, Bidar, Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Gadag, Kalburgi, Haveri, Dharwad, Koppal, Raichur, Yadagiri, Ballari, Chitradurga, Davanagere, and Vijayanagara districts are expected to experience heat wave conditions. “Maximum Temperature very likely to rise by 2-4°C over all North Interior districts gradually.”

Statement about Rainfall

As per the IMD has predicted scattered light/moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorm gusty winds (30-50kmph) over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh , vidarbha, jharkhand during 7th-11th April 2024, odisha during 7th-8th April and madhya maharashtra during 9th-11th april. As per IMD light rains are likely to see in karnataka districts charm nagar, Hasaan, Kodagu on 8th April.

Yesterday, IMD reported that Rayalaseema recorded 44.5 degrees Celsius, Rentachintala in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam recorded 43.4 degrees Celsius, Jeur in Maharashtra recorded 43 degrees Celsius, Gulbarga recorded 42.7 degrees Celsius, and Nalgonda in Telangana recorded 42 degrees Celsius.

Whereas speaking about state wise distribution east madhya pradesh is likely to see moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms on 12th and 13th April. Along with this Chhattisgarh will see moderate rainfalls with thunderstorms, from 8th- 11th APRIL.
In West Madhya Pradesh, Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (speeds reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph) at isolated places from 7th-11th April, hailstorms likely on 8 and 9 April.
