SHIMLA- Travelogue
The Planning
One evening while sitting in the living room we suddenly came up with the idea of going to Shimla as it was being long that we haven’t been out for a trip, one of the reasons to choose Shimla was also that my cousin lives there so we were also eager to meet her. So, the final date was the 14th of September,2019, and we all started shopping and packing.
The Departure
Buses and Trains are considered to be the safest for traveling to such places. The nearest station is at Kalka, it is a 4-7 hour journey from Delhi. After that, you take the mountain train from Kalka to Shimla. The fastest way to get to Kalka is to catch the Shatabdi Express, which departs early morning from the New Delhi Railway Station, arriving at Kalka four hours later.
Government and private buses are also available for the people who love to go by road from Chandigarh to Shimla within a gap of half an hour.
We took the train as we were quite excited to be there as soon as possible.
Reached the Destination
Shimla is the capital the of Himachal Pradesh in India. And it is one of the most beautiful places in the country. Most of the people residing there are Pahadi.
The first place that we visited was The Shimla State Museum, it is situated at the top of Mount Pleasant is also known as the library. For Indians, the ticket price is Rs 20. It is open every day from 10 am to 5 pm except on Mondays. Beautiful place to explore.
Near the museum, there is a Mall road, it is full of restaurants, cafes, book shops, and tourist attractions. Open all days and as its kind of a market so no entry fees of course.
The Ridge was the next place we went to, it is at the center of the town surrounded by hills. If you are a mountain lover than this is the place for you. Great for photography.
The next day we went to The Indian Institute of Advanced Study, it was constructed between 1880- 1888. the building is just next level beauty so you can click a lot of pictures there and most importantly don’t forget to enjoy the view then and there.
Then we went to the Summer Hills, it is situated on the outskirts of the city from there you can get a spectacular view of greenery and hills, mountains. It is a part of a cluster of 7 hills, it’s worth watching.
