Bhagwant Mann is all set to meet Arvind Kejriwal after AAP’s victory in Punjab

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is all set to form the new government in Punjab after their massive win in the state assembly elections.  The Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP won 92 seats out of 117 seats. The Indian National Congress won 18 seats, while the Bharatiya Janta Party secured 2 seats. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) got three seats and an independent candidate and Bahujan Samaj Party won one seat each. Bhagwant Mann, the Aam Aadmi Party’s Chief Ministerial face in Punjab, is going to the national capital Delhi on Friday, to meet Aam Aadmi Party’s convener Arvind Kejriwal in order to congratulate him and celebrate AAP’s victory in Punjab. Mr. Mann also told that the oath-taking ceremony will be held at Khatkar Kalan, Nawanshahr district, the ancestral village of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.  When asked about government formation, Mr. Mann said that “I will meet the (Punjab) governor tomorrow. We will seek time from him today.” 

Bhagwant Mann won from the Dhuri seat by 58,206 votes. Talking about AAP’s incredible victory, Mann said, “The people defeated arrogant persons and they made the common people victorious.” ‘Ik Mauka Bhagwant Mann te Kejriwal nu’, The Aam Aadmi Party’s slogan for Punjab states seems to have an impact on the people of the state. The party seems to have followed the same model of governance in Punjab that they followed in Delhi, by improving the conditions of educational and health facilities. The part has also promised to provide the state with free electricity for up to 300 units and promised that there will be fewer power outages. 

The grand old Congress party failed to retain the power and the incumbent Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi lost from both the seats (Chamakur Sahib and Badaur) he contested. Further, the PPCC (Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee) chief Navjot Singh Sidhu also got defeated in the prestigious seat of Amritsar East. The Punjab Election Results have been a surprise for a majority of the political observers as a lot of big heavyweights lost their deposits which also included former Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal and his son Sukhbir Singh Badal.
