Bharat Jodo Yatra enters Himachal Pradesh; Rahul Gandhi heap praises on CM Sukhu

Congress party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra led by Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi enters Himachal Pradesh where newly appointed  CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and state Congress President Pratibha Singh were seen walking with RaGa.

 

On Wednesday, the long Padyatra- Bharat Jodo Yatra by Congress party entered its Himachal leg where Rahul Gandhi was seen walking along the streets of the Hill state along with Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and the PCC Chief Pratibha Singh. The Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi walked 18 Kilometres in parts of Kangra District during his day-long leg of the Yatra. Rahul Gandhi, during the Padyatra also heaped praise on newly-appointed Himachal CM Sukhu. Addressing a gathering, he called Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu a ‘Zameeni Aadmi’ (down-to-earth humble man) and equated the people of the Himachal with mountains which were “strong but calm”. 

 

Rahul Gandhi also attacked the ruling Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre. He stated that BJP is spreading hatred, “violence and fear” and he also slammed the opposition party on the issues of inflation, unemployment, demonetization, GST, Agniveer, farmers’ issues and many other issues. The Wayanad MP also accused the BJP of capturing a plethora of government institutions and said the only way left was to take it to the streets and roads to highlight those key issues. 

 

After spending six days in the neighbouring state of  Punjab, the Rahul Gandhi-led ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ entered the hill state of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday morning. After the march entered the state near the Ghatota village located in Kangra district, Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring handed over the flag to Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and state Congress chief- Pratibha Singh. CM Sukhu and Pratibha Singh thanked Rahul Gandhi for including the hill state in the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which was initially not included in the scheduled itinerary released by the Grand Old Party.

The Bharat Jodo Yatra Congress is gaining huge traction across the country and is scheduled to enter the last leg in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on January 19th. Until now, this Yatra has successfully covered over 3,500 km in 115 days. It commenced in Kanyakumari on September 07 and has covered parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Haryana. It will finally culminate in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
