2022 Assembly Elections Live Updates: On Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will host a crucial conference to discuss the election strategy and manifesto for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, will be in attendance, along with other party leaders. The meeting took place two days after the BJP announced its candidates for 57 of the 58 seats in the first phase and 48 of the 55 seats in the second phase.

On Monday, the remaining eight applicants from the first and second phases will be discussed. In addition, a strategy for the candidates for the remaining phases will be formulated. The BJP conducted three long sessions last week to finalize candidate names and discuss seat-sharing with its allies in the upcoming assembly elections.

Union home minister Amit Shah presided over the sessions, which were attended by Yogi Adityanath, deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, and Uttar Pradesh poll in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan, among others.
Shah did a sector-by-sector evaluation of six areas and received feedback on the ground situation in UP from the regional in charge.

The BJP, which is seeking to establish the state government for the second time, has been battered by a wave of resignations in recent days. Many members of the state government, as well as other party leaders, have defected to the opposition Samajwadi Party, with former state labour minister Swami Prasad Maurya being the most famous.

The BJP has retaliated against its renegade leaders after reaching out to them, with UP minister Sidharth Nath Singh calling the resignations as a case of pride coming before the fall.

Commencing on February 10 and ending on March 7, elections for 403 assembly constituencies will be held in seven rounds. On March 10, the votes will be counted and the results will be announced.
