Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai says no question of Congress returning to power

On Monday, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai commented that the question of Congress party coming back to power in the state is insignificant. Thus, they will be prepared to bring back the reservation provided by the BJP. “Congress party senior leaders expressed the idea that they will reverse the reservation which we have released. There is no question of them coming to the government. The Congress can’t displace the reservation as they will never take control of the power in the Karnataka state,” he said.

CM Bommai has further added, condemned Rajdeep Singh Surjewala for his comment shared on Twitter, and said, “I want to directly convey to Dalit and lower strata people that they (Congress) are anti-Dalits, anti-poor, they are trembling. Their tweets clearly reflect that they are anti-Vokkaliga and anti-Lingayat, it has a clear intention and shows the real face of Congress.”

In recent times, the Karnataka government carried out a major change in the state reservation plan by rearranging subcategories in the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category and presenting new sub-groups in the Scheduled Castes list. In plenty of changes, the Bommai led-government of  Karnataka discontinued the 4% quota in Category 2(B) meant for the Muslim community, accumulating the quantum of quota in two other subcategories by 2% each. The Karnataka authority also added for the first time, four subcategories to the Scheduled Castes list in the state.

He stated that in the coming days, there will be a high-level state core committee meeting. Bommai also emphasized that no one is disappointed, all major surveys indicate that the ruling government will repeat the next term. There are competitions to get the BJP ticket, that’s the courage of our party’s strength. Currently sitting CM Basavaraj Bommai also expresses his ambition to fill the nomination form from his hometown of Shiggaon in the Haveri district in the forthcoming Karnataka assembly elections.
