Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has sparked a fresh row of controversy after he took a dig at AIMIM chief Asaddudin Owaisi. On Sunday, addressing a crowd in Warangal in Telangana,  Sarma said “Like Article 370, the name of Nizam and Owaisi will also be wiped off forever.”

On Sunday, the Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma launched an offensive against the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaddudin Owaisi. Addressing a gathering at the Vishnupriya Gardens in Warangal, Telangana to express solidarity with the BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar who was arrested, Sarma said that just like Article 370 was wiped off, the same way names of Nizam and Owaisi will be erased forever. The Assam CM also took a jibe at the ruling TRS saying that the KCR is not worried about the people of Telangana, but only about his own son.

Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “The way Article 370 was scrapped, Ram Mandir’s construction began, here also Nizam’s name, Owaisi’s name will be forgotten forever and that day is not too far.” Sarma also stated that the history of India says that Babur, Aurangzeb, and Nizam cannot live long. He said “The history of India says that Babur, Aurangzeb, and Nizam cannot live long. I am sure that the legacy of Nizam will come to a complete halt and a new culture based on Indian civilization will emerge.”

Attacking the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), Himanta said “KCR is like Aurangzeb. He is continuing Aurangzeb’s hereditary politics in Telangana. Though Assam is very small compared to Telangana, our government has provided one lakh jobs in our State, but here, the unemployment rate is rising.” Taking a dig at both the Congress and TRS, Sarma said “Whenever a dictator becomes Chief Minister or Prime Minister, an emergency-like situation arises in the country and that we have to keep fighting and it will result in the creation of a new Telangana. Dictatorship will not work here.”

Kavitha Kalvakuntla, the daughter of the Telangana Chief Minister KCR, attacking Himanta Biswa Sarma, took to her Twitter and wrote “.@himantabiswa Ji, your remarks today once again restated the intent of BJP to erase the glorious history of Telangana. I wonder, why you & your party are so threatened with idea of unity? Did you forget the verdict of Telangana in 2018, where BJP lost deposits on 107 seats.”

The Chief Minister (CM) of Assam was in Warangal to show his solidarity with the BJP President of Telangana Bandi Sanjay Kumar after he was arrested by the Police for flouting Covid norms.
