Top 5 Most Controversial Bollywood Movies
Bollywood has long been a canvas for storytelling, often reflecting the diverse and dynamic culture of India. However, the industry’s…
Anushka Sharma Birthday Special: An Actor par excellence, an astute Entrepreneur, and a Producer who has backed exceptional scripts, Anushka Sharma has all of these to her name. A phenomenal woman, Sharma had success in several hats she donned and it is time we pay a befitting tribute to our own Shruti Kakkar who is celebrating her 35th Birthday today.
Anushka Sharma, the name itself brings a smile on my face and today I am gushing with Happiness as not just my favourite actress but to a woman who I look up to will be celebrating her 35th Birthday today. Unlike lakhs of people who fell in love with Anushka for her portrayal as Shruti Kakkar in Band Baaja Baaraat , I was taken back by her performance in NH10 where she went rampant on a few people who killed her husband.
Anushka, born 1 May 1988, into a middle class family, with no background into the Hindi Film Industry (also known as Bollywood) rose to fame with her debut Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi starring opposite Shah Rukh Khan. Her portrayal as Taani Sahni (a Punjabi woman) was much appreciated by the audience and the on-screen chemistry with SRK brought her huge applause from critics and the audience.
Hailing from an army family, she started her career as a model and later switched into the realm of acting. After tasting huge success from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Sharma bagged Band Baaja Baarat produced by Yash Raj Films. Shruti Kakkar, a career-oriented Delhi Girl, played by Anushka in BBB, helped her win numerous fans and she was widely appreciated for her remarkable raw acting. Later, as her acting career progressed at a remarkable rate, she went onto do numerous big hits such as Jab Tak Hai Jaan and many more.
If you are a movie buff- here’s an interesting fact about Sharma:- She is into the list of Bollywood Actress who has a tremendous Box Office success with all three Khans (Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan). With Srk- Jab Tak Hai Jaan, with Salman- Sultan and with Aamir- PK (all three Blockbusters).
However, above these Box-Office success, there’s something that makes her an inspiration for the generation. If you haven’t guessed it- I will tell you. It’s her knack for identifying well-written, impactful scripts and backing them as a Producer. Yes, to a few of you who aren’t aware of the fact- Anushka Sharma is a producer as well and is the co-founder of a production house- Clean Slate Filmz. Having co-founded the banner along with her brother Karnesh Sharma, she has produced films like NH10, Phillauri, Pari, a cop drama web series titled Paatal Lok, and Bulbbul. If one carefully looks at the subject/genre of these films, it is easy to decode that most of them deal with unconventional but real and impactful subjects. It, in no sense, is easy for a producer to back such non-commercial films but Anushka certainly did this, making her a force to be reckon with in terms of Film-producing. Kalpana Nair stated: “actresses like Sharma command the respect they do in a largely conservative and male-dominated industry and the fact that their fan base grows when they take on roles that are not conventional is good reason for us to beam widely and walk with a spring in our step” and this stands so true for Anushka.
Bollywood and Stardoms comes with glitz and glamour and Superstars are always in the spotlight, sometimes for films, other times for their ‘mostly alleged’ affairs. Anushka was no exception and her link-up rumours with Cricketer Virat Kohli was all over the place post the Actor-Cricketer duo did a TVC for a shampoo brand. Later, as their relationship was out in the public despite their reluctance to admit it, the couple got married in 2017. Again, Sharma gave us a major lesson which indeed was a dialogue in her blockbuster movie Sultan. The dialogue goes “Pyaar Barabar Waalo Mein Hota Hai, Jiski Tum Izzat Kar Sakho” (rough translation) and by marrying Virat Kohli, often touted as one of the greatest Indian Cricketers, Anushka, who is also the leading actress, went onto gave us a major life goal.
A practising vegetarian and being listed as one of “Bollywood’s hottest vegetarian celebrities”, Anushka also started her own clothing brand with the name Nush. Her entrepreneurial skills and business could be testified by the fact that she featured in Fortune India’s “50 Most Powerful Women in Business”. In 2019, she featured on Fortune India’s “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” list again.
In all the glitter and limelight, is a humble, caring and religious person in Anushka. She has also been named as “The Person of the Year” by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) on multiple occasions. Additionally, Sharma is also an avid practitioner of Transcendental Meditation and a practising Hindu. With all these achievements in her kitty, Anushka Sharma is truly a woman of substance.
Happy Birthday Anushka Sharma!
