Smmit Jayesh Desai aka Smmit Jay was born in Navsari and he eventually moved to Melbourne, Australia. He was born to Jayesh Desai, an advocate, and Bela Desai a housewife.He grew alongside an elder brother who is settled in Melbourne. Smmit attended school and high school from Sanskar Bharti High school and Sett R.J.J. High school, Navsari respectively. Also got a Diploma in civil engineering from Dr. S & S. S. Ghandhy College of Engineering and Technology in Surat. then moved to finish his Bachelor of Engineering in Civil from Faculty of Engineering Technology and Research in Bardoli. He eventually completed a Master of Construction Practice from Bond University, Gold Coast, and a Master of Networking from Melbourne Institute of Technology. His interest was to gain knowledge in classical music which led him to be a Visharad in Hindustani classical music alongside attending piano grade examination from Trinity University.

 

He has been actively working as a Music Composer since 2017. The projects include some appreciated work under labels like Times music, Tips music, Red ribbon musik, Vani music, and PB Film productions amongst many others. Smmit has also shared his experience with various artists including Divya Kumar, Sree Rama Chandra, Aishwariya Majamudar, Meet Jain, and many more. His work varied from Music videos, Theatre drama, TV commercials, short films to web series as a Music Director. He is even an active civil site engineer in Melbourne.

 

His journey was marked when he started learning singing and instrument playing from the 5th standard as a hobby and extra-curricular activity. This influenced him to slowly gain interest in music and he started liking piano and harmonium playing. With time he started appearing in many local competitions and won them while attending school. 2011 made him move to Surat after completing high school. This is where he joined swar music academy where he successfully finished his visharad in Hindustani classical music (harmonium).

 

His achievement includes winning state-level youth festivals in classical instrument playing organized by the government and organized by GTU in 2012, 2013, and 2014. His past work includes ‘Maru man mohi gayu’ sung by Sree Rama Chandra, ‘Vhalo lage’ sung by Aishwariya Majmudar & Divya Kumar, ‘Meri guddiyaa’ and ‘Radha khovaai 2.0’ sung by Meet Jain and many more. He is working on a few new projects that are in pipeline for future release.
