Argentina Captain and one of the best football players of the era Lionel Messi has told the sources that he will not be a part of the 2026 World Cup tournament.

The Argentinian star has already won his world cup trophy last year when they thrashed France on the field, making themselves the original champions of the world. The 35-year-old player ended up scoring the final goal against France and ended up winning the Golden Ball award too.

The news was spread by the Chinese media when the Argentina team was at Beijing for a friendly match against Australia. He confirmed to the sources there that 2022 was his last World Cup contest and that he won’t be back for the 2026 tournament that will be played in US and Mexico.

His exact words were, “I think not, this was my last World Cup,” when asked about his possible return for the tournament. “I’ll have to see how things go but I won’t be coming in next World Cup,” the super goalscorer continued.

Messi was also seen sharing good thoughts on Manchester City winning Treble this season. The Argentinian star said he is in constant contact with the present Man. City manager Pep Guardiola and that he was very happy with his achievements. He even went so far as to call him the Best Coach in the world.

“I am very happy for Pep and his entire team winning this season’s UEFA Championship. In my opinion, Pep is the best coach in the world and he didn’t need to win the Champions league to prove that, he is already one of the greatest,” Leo told the sources when asked about this season’s UCL champions.

It is already known to the world that Messi will be joining Inter Miami this season and will now be playing in the American leagues. He exited his former French club Paris Saint Germain after a dispute took place in the club after his transfer news came out.
