Indian contingent has started their Asian Games campaign on a high note

The Indian contingent has started the 2023 Asian Games campaign quite well and they look to continue their run on Friday. Rowing has been a strong sport for India so far and there are more opportunities for athletes to advance to the medal rounds in their respective sports. India will begin their journey hoping to win their first table tennis gold with a star-studded line-up that includes Manika Batra and Sharath Kamal. The nation will also face Chinese Taipei in men’s volleyball after a dramatic 3-2 win over South Korea. The men’s team of Indian table tennis beat Yemen 3-0 in the first round and moved to the second round where they will now face Singapore in round two of the championship.

This time the Asia Cup has become even more interesting because Cricket has also been added as a format. The men’s T20 cricket tournament starts on September 27 and ends with the bronze and gold matches on October 7. The tournament will feature 15 teams, including the top-ranked countries, who will begin their journey in the quarter-finals. The remaining 11 teams compete in the group stage, with the winners facing the top four in the quarter-finals. The 2023 Asian Games Men’s T20 cricket tournament is scheduled to include group stages as well as straight quarter-finals. At first, the teams are divided into four groups.

Women’s cricket has already kicked off on the 19th of September and finals will be played on the 25th of September. India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are the teams who qualified for the semifinals. The 4th quarter-final is yet to be played, whichever team wins it will face India in the semi-finals, the another semi-final will be played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The 19th edition of the Asian Games 2023 has already started on September 19. However, the opening ceremony will take place tomorrow, Saturday, September 23, 2023. The Asian Games 2023 will be held in Hangzhou, China. The competitions are held at 56 different sports venues in Hangzhou. The closing ceremony of the Asian Games will be held on October 8, 2023.
