Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr has made a dramatic entrance in this season’s AFC Champions League group stage just at the right moment. The Saudi Pro League made an amazing comeback with a 4-2 beat that was faced by Shabab Al Ahli (Dubai-based club) on Tuesday, 22 August in Mrsool Park. 

Does Ronaldo’s team have a chance to play Mumbai City FC, the only Indian club competing in the Champions League? There is a chance that they will be placed in the same group as the Islanders, who are in Pot 3 in the West Zone.

The Saudi giants, who had opened the scoring through Anderson Talisca, soon found themselves down a goal when Yahya Al Ghassani scored again. But Cristiano Ronaldo’s team was able to tie the score thanks to a goal from Sultan bin Abdullah in the 88th minute, and shortly after that, Talisca and Marcelo Brozovic scored two goals in succession to complete the incredible comeback.

Al-Nassr has now officially committed to playing in the AFC Champions League in 2023–24 as a result of their triumph. Along with former winners Al Ain FC of the United Arab Emirates, they were placed in Pot 4 of the West Zone.

After defeating Neymar’s new club Al Hilal, Al-Nassr FC most recently claimed the Arab Club Champions Cup title. The fighting spirit was evident despite their less than resolute performance against Shabab Al Ahli.
