The 2022 monsoons in Pakistan were three times more intense than the country’s 30-year average rainfall, leading to one of the greatest catastrophes Pakistan has ever experienced and more humanitarian needs than the country’s devastating earthquake in 2005.

A devastating humanitarian crisis affecting over 33 million people has been brought on by unprecedented rainfall and severe flash floods in 116 160 districts, with 72 severely disaster-struck regions labeled. The widespread infrastructure damage and landslides resulted in over 1,160 fatalities, 3,550+ injuries, 1,057,350+ destroyed homes, 240+ bridges, 170+ shops, and 3,145+ miles of roads, impacted over 2 million acres of crops and killed 730,000+ livestock, disrupted the way of life for locals for years to come.

The already known and top-rated 4-Star USA NGO, Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD), also registered with the Ministry of Interior in Pakistan, has announced a $15 million cash and in-kind campaign to support short- and long-term flood relief efforts in Pakistan. Balochistan, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir are all home to HHRD, which offers urgent relief and assistance through food, water, shelter, mobile medical treatment, and transporting families to safety. Over 72,000 people in 21 Districts have received assistance from HHRD between July 14 and August 29, 2022.

The immediate recovery operations are still ongoing, and long-term rehabilitation and settlement plans are also in place for the affected families in the coming months and years.
