How Cells in the Human Body Learn to Count

- Post By The India Saga
Researchers from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine have given us a count of around 37.2 trillion cells in the human body. Researchers experimented on genetically engineered mice and revealed that the cilia count is managed by a process observed in non-mammalian species. What makes these cells exceptional is that while other cells create 1 cilium per cell, these advanced cells go about building hundreds of cilia. Researchers believe revealing the mechanisms or causes governing the cilia number, can shed light on the treatment of respiratory disease, infertility, hydrocephaly.
