Special Cell of Delhi Police, on Monday, arrested a Pakistani Terrorist from Laxmi Nagar in East Delhi. The man named Mohammad Ashraf was living in India for the past 15 years and was planning blasts during the festive season. An AK-47, one hand grenade, 2 pistols, and more than 60 rounds of ammunition were seized from him.
In a major move to fight terrorism, Delhi PoliceÂs Special Cell, on Monday arrested Md Ashraf, a Pakistani Terrorist from Ramesh Park, Laxmi Nagar in East Delhi. As per the police, the man was living in India with an Indian identity and even had an Aadhar Card and Passport of India. The terrorist who was identified as Mohammad Ashraf had an AK-47, one hand grenade, 2 pistols, one extra magazine, and more than 60 rounds of ammunition and was planning to create mayhem and violence in the country during the festive season.
It was also revealed that the Pakistani National was living in India disguised as a ÂPir Baba and was even married to an Indian woman. Delhi Police Special CellÂs Deputy Commissioner of Police Pramod Kushwaha said that the suspected terrorist, Pakistani National Mohammad Ashraf, had most likely entered India through the Bangladesh border touching Siliguri. Addressing a presser, Pramod Kushwaha also said that ÂFrom the weapons recovered, we feel he was going to carry out an operation during the festive season. Md Ashraf made a fake ID in Bihar and also got married to a woman in Vaishali, Ghaziabad.Â
The police further said that although they are still verifying the details, Mohammad Ashraf was staying in India for at least a decade. In Delhi, he was staying in two locations- Old Delhi and Laxmi Nagar. Delhi Police also confirmed that Md AshrafÂs passport was made in 2014 and has changed at least 5-6 addresses and was using social media apps to stay in touch with his Pakistan handler. Kushwaha also said that the man joined the terrorist camp after his Class 10 exams and was given six months of training and has lived in multiple locations across the country which includes Ajmer, Ghaziabad, Jammu, Udhampur, and Delhi. Deputy Commissioner further added that ÂWe got a tip-off that he had reached an advanced stage as he was given the locations for weapons. Before he could carry ahead any operation, we arrested him.Â
As per the sources, he hails from PakistanÂs Punjab province and is currently under police custody and relevant provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act has been invoked against him. Meanwhile, the owner of the house from where Ashraf used to stay in Delhi said they would cooperate with the police. ÂHe lived here for six months. My father got his Aadhar Card made for documentation. After he left, we were not in touch with him. If needed, we will cooperate with the police, said the man, Uzaib.
