Born on August 20, 1965, in the humble village of Kej, Shri Dileep Prabhakarrao Gheware’s life has been defined by…
Diversity, equality, and inclusion are some of the terms that are buzzwords of today. For such a progressive society, it is important to keep in mind that people, no matter what gender and sexuality, are still righteously subjected to the expression of speech, action, and freedom. After all, we are witnessing LGBTQ rights in India getting a green flag, and we can see people are finally accepting others who identify as something beyond male and female. What’s more there to change? Perhaps, there is still a need to strengthen the foundation of society for all kinds of people.
Adhering to this notion, Vandita Jain from New Delhi has started her own initiative – Samanya – Equality beyond the Binary which aims to preserve the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community and support the marginalized genders of today. Doing such an immense deed in her teen years, Vandita is on her way to becoming the thought leader of the generation. Her mindset and vision to support those who are victims of violence and bullying are remarkable. With the aim to provide them with a ‘fearless future,’ she held regular classes in HTML, CSS, and Javascript for them to learn important IT and tech skills.
Not just this, Jain has an excellent grasp of workshops in finance and communication and that’s how she started training them. She also gained a perspective of this world at an early age and decided to share her wisdom with those who are bullied and poorly treated and had to drop out of school because of it. It is due to her supervision and diligence that many of them can now be part of the educational system and get employed without hindrance.
“Doing something for society in itself is a great achievement but becoming a voice for people who need to be heard is something more explicable. I believe we all deserve a fair chance at life and seeing marginalized gender suffer in silence is something I cannot put up with. It’s against my morals and values,” Jain explained her viewpoint in a statement.
“I decided to do something about the people who are considered outcasts just because they do not identify as one of the two genders, is unjust,” said Vandita Jain, Founder of Samanya – Equality beyond the Binary. “Samanya is a foundation that brings together people irrespective of their genders, sexuality, and race. I’m proud of everyone who has stood up for themselves in life and just want to support them in their future endeavors,” she continued further.
The initiative taken by Jain serves as a reminder that change is achievable if we have the guts to speak up and do something about it. It is evident that having empathy and being inclusive can have a good effect on people’s lives. Jain’s initiatives have given the LGBTQIA+ community’s marginalized genders hope, and other people should be motivated to follow in her footsteps by learning from her example.
For the LGBTQIA+ community, Vandita Jain’s effort Samanya – Equality Beyond the Binary has changed the game. Her initiatives have provided high school dropouts a sense of empowerment, belonging, and purpose while also enabling them to embrace and proudly display their identities. Her compassion, intellectual maturity, organizational prowess, and leadership abilities have helped the community move toward a more inclusive future. All people can find inspiration in Jain’s narrative, and her work deserves to be honored on a global scale.
Recently, Vandita also appeared on the show, The India Saga where she talked about her achievements and her accomplishments in a complete talk interview. Watch this video that addresses her journey of beginning a brilliant initiative ‘Samanya – Equality beyond the Binary.’
