Arjun Singh gets back to TMC after quitting BJP

West Bengal BJP vice-president and member of parliament (MP) seat Arjun Singh rejoined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Sunday, after quitting the former party. He was welcomed to the party in the presence of the party’s general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in Kolkata. He was the Lok Sabha member from Barrackpore in North 24 Parganas district and a state vice-president. He re-joined TMC after 38-months of leaving the party to join the BJP.

The TMC uploaded photos of the leader joining the party on social media. However, Abhishek Banerjee was missing from the press conference that followed the event. Partha Bhowmick, TMC’s Naihati legislator, in the presence of foreign minister Jyotipriya Mallick and other legislature, made the announcement. Mr. Singh at the press conference said “I was inducted by Abhishek Banerjee under instructions from Mamata Banerjee. I returned to the home where I belonged. I left because of some misunderstandings. I left the BJP because of the treatment being meted out to Bengal. Our jute industry is suffering because of the Centre.”

Abhishek Banerjee welcoming the leader tweeted “Extending a warm welcome to @ArjunsinghWB, who rejected the divisive forces at @BJP4India and joined the @AITCofficial family today. People across the nation are suffering and they need us now more than ever. Let’s keep the fight alive.”

The former BJP MP took a dig at the BJP soon after joining the TMC. He said that BJP is such an organization that is just limited to Facebook. He also added that politics cannot be done sitting on just AC rooms, BJP has to get on the ground to do politics. The leader further said that he had a talk with BJP national president JP Nadda on the issues about the party. BJP flags were removed from Arjun Singh’s residence. Also, TMC flags were put up as soon as Mr.Singh rejoined TMC after quitting BJP.
