Steps to ensure that your article is read by more readers, online.

The India Saga Saga |

We all are aware of the phrase the first impression is the last. Implementing this phrase on article writing implies that the first impression is always created by the title of the article. As soon as someone wants to read an article about a specific topic they get thousands of options in front of them but now it depends on them which one are they going to choose for reading further. So the first thing they consider is the title which has to really interesting and creative. Also, a good title doesn’t contain more than 50 to 60 words. And the reader automatically gets forced to click it and boom you got a view.

While searching for anything on Google you must have observed that below the title of an article there is always a meta description about it or the summary, that what all it includes. This is done to get the readers influenced by the content and to increase the number of clicks. The Meta description should always be revolving around the topic and relevant for the readers, you should also keep in mind the maximum numbers of characters you can use are 160 more than that makes your description look incomplete and kind of abrupt.

As soon as the article gets opened the first glance of it should be easy going and creative and subheadings make that work easy for us as the reader gets the idea by going through them and even gets a choice to read any point first. For example, there can be subheadings in a lifestyle article carrying some kind of benefits for the user, or regarding facts in a political article.

After reading the subheadings the reader comes on the main content.  Heart of the article is the content if nothing is interesting and promising in it, then it becomes a flop. And this breaks the connection of the reader with your site and there is a chance that they would never visit it again. You need to be good with keywords are the number of times you are using it in your article. The keyword should be something that a person may search for.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) helps your article to gain a good rank on Google pages. As mentioned in the above point that keywords are important in the content as it helps the SEO so never overuse the keyword and make sure that the keyword is always there in the title.

Images always make things easy for us doesn’t matter how complicated the point is to understand we get it by looking at them. It is always better for people to visually understand something rather than reading or even listening. Also, even when the readers are not a huge fan of your writing they may get connected with you because of the images in the article.

Ex-President Pranab Mukherjee died at the age of 84

The India Saga Saga |

Ex-President Pranab Mukherjee took his last breath on 10th August in Delhi Cantonment, at the age of 84.

Abhijeet Mukherjee tweeted, “With a Heavy Heart, this is to inform you that my father Shri #PranabMukherjee has just passed away in spite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital & prayers, duas & prarthanas from people throughout India! I thank all of you.”

Before keeping his steps in politics, he worked in the field of journalism and teaching as well. His journey started in 1972, becoming a member of Indira Gandhi’s Council. In 2004, he won from Jangipur, Bengal. Also, he was again elected in the year 2009. From 2009-2012, he served as the Union Finance Minister. He was a man with the sharpest mind and was a great political strategist with knowledge of commerce, finance, defence, and even external affairs.

In 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while presenting him the Bharat Ratna sketched him as “outstanding statesman of our times”. During his tenure of 2012-2017 when he was President of India, he used to present his thoughts in such a positive and beautiful manner that even after being in opposition nobody used to get offended.

“There has been a decline in the medical condition of Shri Pranab Mukherjee since yesterday. He is in septic shock due to his lung infection and is being managed by a team of specialists. He continues to be in a deep coma and on ventilator support,” stated the Army’s Research and Referral Hospital.

India grieves as former President, elder statesman and Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee dies at 84

The India Saga |

Former President of India Pranab Mukherjee died after battling health complications following a brain surgery at Army’s Research and Referral Hospital in the Capital on Monday evening. He was 84 and had also tested positive for Coronoavirus. The surgery had taken place earlier this month and he had remained in a deep coma.

Often described as the elder statesman of Indian politics, Mr Mukherjee was honoured with India’s highest civilian award Bharat Ratna on August 8 last year at Rashtrapati Bhawan. He was President of India from 2012 to 2017.

“With a Heavy Heart , this is to inform you that my father Shri Pranab Mukherjee has just passed away inspite of the best efforts of Doctors of RR Hospital and prayers, duas and prarthanas from people throughout India ! I thank all of You,” his son Abhijit Mukherjee, member of Lok Sabha, said in a tweet.

Among the first to pay tributes was Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he was blessed to have Mr Mukherjee’s guidance since he took office in 2014.

“India grieves the passing away of Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee. He has left an indelible mark on the development trajectory of our nation. A scholar par excellence, a towering statesman, he was admired across the political spectrum and by all sections of society,” Mr Modi said in tweets.

“I was new to Delhi in 2014. From Day 1, I was blessed to have the guidance, support and blessings of Shri Pranab Mukherjee. I will always cherish my interactions with him. Condolences to his family, friends, admirers and supporters across India. Om Shanti,” the Prime Minister said.

On Monday morning, the Army hospital had reported a decline in Mr Mukherjee’s  condition. He had gone into septic shock due to his lung infection, the Army’s Research and Referral Hospital said.

The former President was admitted to hospital on August 10 and surgery was performed the same day for the removal of a clot in the brain. He had tested positive for COVID-19 in hospital. He developed a lung infection and a renal dysfunction over the past few days, according to the hospital.

High and mighty in the country’s political circle often described him as the “best Prime Minister India never had’’, Mr Mukherjee, veteran Congressman, was also the trouble-shooter for the party. He handled all key portfolios in the governments of Prime Ministers P V Narasimha Rao and Dr Manmohan Singh. He steered the affairs of Defence, Finance, External Affairs and Commerce Ministries with ease and handled the rough and tumble of politics in Parliament. However, he could not make it to the top post. In 2004 when the occasion arose, Congress President Sonia Gandhi herself declined the post and chose Dr Manmohan Singh for the top job who was junior to Mr Mukherjee. But he hit it off well with Dr Singh and the two shared a great relationship in and out of Union Cabinet.

It was Prime Minister Indira Gandhi who got him elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1969. He was part of every Congress government at the Centre since then barring the tenure of Rajiv Gandhi who did not pick him up for a Cabinet berth. His services were utilized by Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao in the Congress government.

Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh observed that that Mr Mukherjee was “correctly upset when I was made Prime Minister”. Speaking at the launch of Mr Mukherjee’s book, he said: “He had a reason to feel upset but he respected me and we have a great relationship which will continue till we live.”

Mr Mukherjee knew the intricacies, pulls and pressures of the government and had a thorough knowledge of the Constitution, Parliamentary rules and procedures and economic policies. It was his expertise and deep understanding that made political leaders from across the wide spectrum look up to him for consultations and “Pranab-Da’’, as he was fondly called, never disappointed any one.

It was his sharp mind, political acumen, vast administrative experience and problem solving ability that Dr Manmohan Singh entrusted him with the responsibility of talking to the Left parties during the nuclear deal with the U.S. in 2007. At one time, he was heading nearly 100 parliamentary committees and about 24 empowered Group of Ministers (GoMs) panels.

When Congress-led UPA government lost general elections in 2014 and the BJP-led NDA government came to power, the transition was overseen by him as the President. He enjoyed cordial and warm relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi who often described Pranab-Da as his guide in the Capital. After winning a second term with massive majority in 2019, Mr Modi had called on Mr Mukherjee, then former President to seek his blessings.

His father Kamada Kinkar Mukherjee was a freedom fighter and hailed from a village in West Bengal’s Birbhum district. Mr Mukherjee had pursued politics, history and law in Calcutta University.

Brainwaves (EEG) used to track human performance during crisis

The India Saga |

Indian Institute of Technology Madras have shown that Electroencephalogram, commonly referred to as EEG can be used to measure brainwaves in workers, to assess their mental sharpness, especially during times of crisis. The EEG involves placing sensors on the scalp of the subject and measuring brain wave activity.

Created by the researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras such measurements will help in assessing the capability of the worker to respond to an emergency in real-time, which, in turn, could prevent accidents and mishaps on a factory floor.

The IIT Madras team has shown the potential of EEG, a technique that measures brain activity, to assess the cognitive workload of human operators in a chemical plant control room. The cognitive workload is the level of measurable mental effort that is expended by an individual to perform a task. High cognitive workload state of workers makes them prone to commit errors that can lead to accidents.

This research was undertaken by a team led by Prof. Rajagopalan Srinivasan, Department of Chemical Engineering. The results of this research have been published recently in the reputed peer-reviewed Journal of Computers and Computer Engineering in a paper co-authored by Prof. Rajagopalan Srinivasan, Mr. Mohd Umair Iqbal and Prof. Babji Srinivasan.

Elaborating about the need for this Research, Prof. Rajagopalan Srinivasan said: “Human errors are the cause of nearly 70 per cent of industrial accidents, the world over. Human errors, whether at the planning or execution stage, depend not only on the skill of the worker but also on his/her mental state and sharpness at that time. Anybody’s performance will become error-prone if there is a mismatch between the demands of the task which the person is responsible and their ability at that moment to handle it. Such a mismatch leads to high cognitive workload in human operators, often a precursor to poor performance.”

Prof. Rajagopalan Srinivasan further explained: “All our thoughts and activities are driven by electrical signals between the cells in our brain called brain waves, which occur at different frequencies and are called alpha, beta, gamma, theta and delta. The relative magnitudes of these waves along with their variation are a signature of our thought process and current mental state.”

The research team affixed sensors to the heads of six participants and had them perform eight tasks each. The nature of the tasks was to monitor a typical industrial section for any disturbances which if not controlled, by the participant, in a given time frame can lead to accidents. Thus, the nature of the job required them to understand the plant (industrial section) behaviour and take appropriate decisions and actions if any disturbance occurred. The disturbance increased their cognitive workload, and only if the correct decision was made, did the cognitive workload reduce.

Their results showed that the amount of Theta Waves could identify any mismatch between the worker’s mental model of the process and the actual plant behaviour during abnormal situations. This makes sense because the ‘theta band’ of brainwaves has been thought to be responsible for the control process of working memory functions.

The determination of the varying cognitive workload, in turn, influences human performance, and indeed, the IIT Madras researchers found that the power spectral density in the theta band, correlated well with participants’ successes and failures during the task.

“We intend to study the potential of these EEG methods to improve human performance in various high-risk industries, thus opening a new paradigm to industrial safety and its relation to the real-time mental state of the worker,” said Prof. Rajagopalan Srinivasan.

The EEG based approach can provide information about the cognitive workload of operators during training, which in turn can be used to fine-tune the training process itself. It can also provide targeted cues during learning, to improve the overall effectiveness of training.
