In the ongoing military conflict between Israel and Hamas, India has launched ‘Operation Ajay’ to rescue its 18,000 citizens from Israel. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday chaired a meeting to review preparations for Operation Ajay amid the growing conflict between Israel and Hamas. The crucial meeting was also attended by External Affairs Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra, coming a day after India announced a rescue operation to facilitate the return of Indians seeking to return home from Israel.

Israel declared war on Hamas and established a war cabinet, while Hamas said it was prepared for a protracted conflict. Israel’s strategic partner India condemned the Hamas attack and Prime Minister Modi expressed solidarity with Israel. Shortly after the outbreak of the conflict, Israel’s foreign minister warned Indians to be careful. The ministry came up with a helpline number and on the fifth day of the conflict India launched Operation Ajay.

This is not the first rescue operation launched by the government of India to bring back its citizens safely from other countries. Many operations have been done before this also. 

• Operation Raahat in Yemen In response to the crisis in Yemen during the Yemeni Crisis of 2015, the Indian government launched Operation Raahat.

• Operation Maitri was launched by the Indian government and armed forces as a rescue and relief operation in Nepal following the devastating earthquake that struck the country in April 2015. 

• Operation Sankat Mochan, carried out by the Indian Air Force was aimed to evacuate Indian and other foreign nationals from South Sudan. 

• Operation Samudra Setu The Indian government launched Operation Samudra Setu on May 5, 2020, as a part of a national effort to repatriate citizens stranded abroad during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

• Operation Devi Shakti (2021) was an operation of the Indian Armed Forces to evacuate Indian citizens and foreign nationals from Afghanistan. 

• Operation Ganga was an evacuation mission carried out during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, by the Indian government to rescue its citizens stranded in neighbouring countries. 

• Operation Dost is a search and rescue operation led by the Indian government to assist Syria and Turkey following the devastating 2023 Turkey-Syria earthquake on February 6, 2023, with the epicentre near Gaziantep, Turkey. 

• Operation Kaveri (2023) was launched by the government of India to rescue thousands of citizens who were stranded in conflict-hit Sudan. The operation was launched with the aim of ensuring the safe return of Indian citizens on April 24, 2023. The armed forces are currently in coordination with the government to rigorously evacuate stranded Indians from Sudan.

However, Chaitra and Shardiya Navratri are widely celebrated throughout the nation, but the Navratri of Magha and Ashadha are celebrated as the Gupt Navratri. The advancing shardiya Navratri celebrated from the pratipada to the navmi of Ashwin Shukla Paksha of  Hindu calendar. 

Shardiya Navratri is named after Sharada, which means autumn. It begins on the first day of the bright fortnight (pratipada) of the month of Ashwin. The festival is celebrated for nine nights once a year during this month, which usually falls in the Gregorian months of September and October. 

Nine forms of Durga 

1. Maa Shailputri

Pratipada, also known as the first day, is associated with the form of Shailaputri (“daughter of the mountain”), an incarnation of Parvati. It is in that form that Durga is worshipped as the daughter of Himavan (the guardian deity of the Himalayas). She is depicted riding the bull Nandi, holding a tricycle in her right hand and a lotus flower in her left.

2. Maa Brahmacharini

Dwitiyana (second day) Goddess Brahmachari, another incarnation of Parvati, is worshipped. In this form, Parvati became Yogini, her unmarried self. Brahmachari is worshipped for bestowing liberation or moksha and peace and prosperity. She is depicted walking barefoot and holding a japamala (prayer) and a kamandala (pot). She symbolizes happiness and peace.

3. Maa Chandraghanta

Tritiya (the third day) marks the worship of Chandraghanta, the name derived from the fact that Parvati, after her marriage to Shiva, adorned her forehead with an ardhachandra (literally crescent moon). She is the epitome of beauty and also a symbol of courage. Gray is the colour of the third day, which is a lively colour and can lift everyone’s mood.

4. Maa Kushmanda

Goddess Kushmanda is worshipped on Chaturthi (the fourth day). Kushmanda is believed to be the creative force of the universe and is associated with terrestrial vegetation, hence the colour of the day is orange. She has eight arms and sits on a tiger.

5. Maa Skandamata

Goddess Skandamata worshipped on Panchami (the fifth day), is the mother of Skanda (or Kartikeya). The colour white symbolises the changing power of a mother when her child faces danger. She is depicted riding a wild lion with four arms and holding a child.  

6. Maa Katyayani

Katyayani is an incarnation of Durga and is shown to exhibit courage symbolized by the colour red. Known as the warrior goddess, she is considered one of the most violent forms of Devi. In this avatar, Katyayani rides a lion and has four hands.

7. Maa Kalratri

Kalaratri is considered the fiercest form of Goddess Durga and is honoured in Saptami. It is believed that to kill the demons Sumbha and Nisumbha, Parvati removed her fair skin. The colour of the day is royal. The goddess appears in red clothing or tiger skin, and her fiery eyes have a lot of fury, her skin darkens. The colour red signifies prayer and assures devotees that the goddess will protect them from harm.

8. Maa Mahagauri

Mahagauri symbolizes intelligence and peace. It is believed that when Kaalaratri bathed in the river Ganges, she had warmer skin. The colour associated with today is pink, which represents optimism. He is celebrated on Ashtami. 

9. Maa Siddhidatri

The last day of the festival is known as Navami (ninth day), people pray to Siddhidhatri. Seated on a lotus, she is believed to possess and bestow all kinds of siddhis. Here she has four arms. Also known as Mahalakshmi, the purple colour of the day represents admiration for the beauty of nature. Siddhidatri is Parvati, the wife of Lord Shiva.

National,11 October, 2023: Amazon India today announced that it has onboarded 12 new aspiring entrepreneurs as part of its Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program across Telangana, Karnataka, Delhi NCR, and Maharashtra. This initiative will strengthen Amazon India’s last mile network, ahead of festive season. The DSP program enables aspiring entrepreneurs, even with little to no logistics experience, to develop and launch their own delivery businesses, and provide work opportunities to thousands of delivery associates. These new business owners are supported by Amazon’s more than 20 years of operational experience, best-in-class technology, and a suite of exclusively negotiated services and assets required to deliver Amazon packages safely and successfully.

With the DSP program, Amazon India has partnered with close to 300 small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) to deliver packages to Amazon customers, and provide them with growth avenues. Over the last two years, Amazon India has already onboarded close to 100 new DSPs and will open up more opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs in the future. Israel Hamas War: Israel a West Asian country declared war against Hamas the radical terrorist organisation last Saturday. In the morning Hamas fired thousands of rockets and attacked by air, land, and sea Israel initiated the war in reply the Israeli army retaliated heavily and eliminated the number of Hamas terrorists. At least 900 people were killed in a large-scale surprise attack in Israel, triggering an Israeli airstrike on Gaza that killed at least 687 people. As they retreated into Gaza, the militants claimed to have taken at least 100 hostages with them and threatened to kill them if airstrikes hit Gaza without warning. Israel has promised that Hamas will pay a heavy price and may now be preparing a ground attack on Gaza.

In response to that attack, Israel began bombing the Gaza Strip. It declared war on Hamas and vowed to destroy the “military and administrative capacity” of the enclave’s Hamas leaders. Unfortunately, these reprisals claimed the lives of more than 400 Palestinians. Israeli soldiers fought to push Gazan gunmen out of areas in southern Israel, and Palestinian activists claimed they were holding more than 130 prisoners on the Israeli side. Under martial law, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appealed to the nation to prepare for a “long and difficult” war, a day after Hamas fired rockets into Israel and also sent hundreds of its fighters to attack the country. 

In the midst of the war, many countries, mostly in the Middle East, came forward to support Hamas. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi held talks with Hamas on Sunday, Iran has been a generous supporter of Hamas in recent years. The country helps the Palestinian militant group with financial aid and military supplies. On the other hand, Qatar, a strong supporter of Hamas, issued a statement, claiming that Israel was responsible for the ongoing escalation. Qatar was already a major contributor to funding Hamas. In addition, many Lebanese citizens in Beirut expressed their solidarity with Hamas’ fight against Israel. 

The countries that support Israel, mainly Western countries, are the United States, Great Britain, Australia, France, Norway and Austria. These countries not only supported Israel but also supported its right to self-defence against a Hamas attack. The United States has announced that it will send military support to Israel and strengthen its naval and air forces. US President Joe Biden spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. According to reports, President Biden confirmed that “additional aid to the Israel Defense Forces is now on its way to Israel and will arrive in the coming days,” The reports claimed. 

India also extended its support to Israel, Indian Prime Minister Modi tweeted that “India stands in solidarity with Israel,” expressing support for the country. PM Modi also condoled the loss of Israeli citizens in the Hamas attack. “India is deeply shocked by the news of the terror attacks in Israel. My thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families of Israel. India stands in solidarity with Israel at this difficult time,”  PM Modi tweeted.
